Weather Rome

See the weather for Rome

Rome enjoys a Mediterranean climate with beautiful springs and autumns, mild winters and very hot summers. To get the best Rome weather visit the city between April and June or in September and October, when temperatures will range from 18-25C. The ottobrate, or “beautiful October days”, are particularly well known sunny and warm times. In July and August, Rome's weather is extremely hot with temperatures frequently over 30C, and many top Rome attractions will be very crowded with tourists. In August, too, many businesses still close for the traditional Roman holiday time so this is not the best time to visit. Winter, meanwhile, can be a good time for Rome weather because even though temperatures can dip below zero at times, the average highest temperature for December is still 13C. You will also avoid snow, as while it can fall here in the Italian capital between December and February, it very rarely does so. In fact, while the city was covered in a blanket of snow in February 2010, it was the first significant snowfall in central Rome since 1986!
