Find the good places to shop in Rome

If you're looking for high fashion, Rome shopping will not disappoint. While Milan may be known as the fashion capital of the world, Rome is nonetheless ranked among the top five global cities for top designer clothing. Head to the upscale Via dei Condotti to browse the luxury boutiques of all of the world's biggest names – Chanel, Prada, Armani, Dolce & Gabbana and Versace each have stores here. If you don't want to break the bank, try Via Cola di Renzo and the Via del Tritone area for happening fashions at more reasonable prices. Alternatively, you can drive out to some factory outlets outside the city where you'll find the best bargains of all. Castel Romano, located 20km from Rome on the Via Pontina highway, has more than 100 branded factory stores where you can pick up designer clothes at as much as 30% off high street prices.

Via del Corso is another great spot for Rome shopping. This bustling pedestrian street is full of top names, including Swarowski Crystal and the flagship store of carmaker Ferrari. If you're interested in shopping for fresh produce, the Trastavere food district has a great outdoor food market. It's also a charming spot to walk around in, with many winding streets full of bohemian stores.

For a great Rome shopping experience, why not try the city's best flea market at Porta Portese. Open every Sunday from 8am to 2pm, it's chock full of unusual antiques. You might find a unique gift here that you can take home for that special someone. If you're an art lover, you should head to Piazza Novana. Here and on surrounding streets you'll find lots of great art galleries as well as interesting antique stores. Look out for the great film and cinema store on Via del Governo Vecchio, which is a must for any Italian cinema buff.

When it comes to Rome shopping at a mall, there's only one place you need to go. The massive Euroma2 mall is certain to have everything you are looking for, with 230 shops and restaurants including loads of cool stores for clothing and accessories. The mall's easy to get to even if you don't have a rental car, because you can get the Metro line B from Termini Station to EUR Palasport station, where a free shuttle is waiting to take you directly to Euroma2. It's a great place to visit in high summer because the whole center is air-conditioned!
